Mid Term Submission

Image
After plenty of research on multiple different magazines, I decided that the layout used throughout my magazine would be a good layout because it shows many of the photos taken from the photoshoot and it equally spreads the information and photos throughout the article.

Photoshoot at Walt's

Image
I will be having my photo shoot at Walts' and be taking pictures of the dining, the host stand, the tiki bar, the fish case and behind the scenes in the fish freezer. I will also be taking pictures of te manager and the fish case/host I will be interviewing. Here are some pictures from my photo shoot:

Interviews and Questions

I will be interviewing the owner, a host/fish case worker, as well as a manager at Walt's Fish Market. I will limit each one of them to 5 questions each. Throughout these 15 questions, 5 will be answered by different individuals. My interview questions will be: 1. What makes Walt's different from any other fish restaurant in Sarasota? 2. What is the best seafood dish on the menu? 3. Where does your seafood get imported from? What are some names of the fisherman that deliver fish? 4. How long has the restaurant been open for? 5. How many different types of fish do you carry in your fish case? 6. How long has this restaurant been open in this new location, where we are now? 7. When is stone crab season? 8. What time of the year is the busiest? 9. Does your restaurant offer a gluten free menu? 10. What fish comes in locally? 11. Does your restaurant provide food for those who do not like seafood? 12. Can customers bring in fish that they have caught themselves? 13. D...

Flat Plan

In my magazine, I included a bunch of articles about seafood entrees, and within those articles there are plenty of pictures of the food described in the article. There also is a description of the ingredients within the entree and ways on how to cook it and prepare it for a meal. There are also many interviews scattered throughout the magazine and ads that show other restaurants in Sarasota, or businesses or cooking necessities.

Locations for Photo Shoots

Image
I chose to use Walt's Fish Market as one of the locations to do my photo shoot for my seafood edition of the magazine for a "Taste of Sarasota". I chose Walt's because it is one of the most popular seafood restaurants in Sarasota. It is also very convenient for me because I work as a hostess at Walt's, so I will be able to easily access multiple different views of the restaurant and behind the scenes in the kitchen.   I also chose to use Phillippi Creek Oyster Bar as another location in Sarasota. Phillippi Creek Oyster bar is a restaurant located on the water that sells very delicious seafood plates. This is another very popular seafood restaurant in Sarasota. It is located on South Tamiami Trail and has an outside, as well as inside area for dining.      In addition, I also chose to use Casey Key Fish House as another location for a seafood restaurant. Casey Key Fish House is located right outside of Sarasota, in Osprey, yet it is a phenomena...

Table of Contents

Image
I decided to use these page numbers because the first page in our magazine would be our cover page, the second page would be our table of contents, and the third page could be the start for an article. We decided that three pages for an article would be a perfect amount of room so that we have room for the article, for pictures and for interviews all within three pages. Then, there would be a new article on the sixth page also containing three pages. We would be using multiple pictures throughout the magazine, but probably around 3 at least for one article. We chose the Bernard font, again, for the title for "Table of Contents, because it is bold and will stand out to readers, it also matches the main title on the cover page for our magazine. We also decided we were going to use Bahnschrift Light because it was a very light font that would go well with the article titles.

We looked at many different magazines, food magazines, clothing magazines, house magazines, and many more before coming up with the idea to do a food magazine for our project. With doing all of this research before hand, it helped us come up with many ideas on what specific foods we can do and illustrate in our magazines. Also, the research we did with the multiple magazines helped us plan the design for our magazine. We came up with "Taste of Sarasota" because we are focusing on food around the city, Sarasota. We thought that this would draw attention to readers who want to learn about different foods around Sarasota. I chose to do the "Seafood Edition" because it was convenient since I work at a seafood restaurant, and with living so close by the water, in Sarasota, there are many different seafood restaurants to choose from. I chose the font of the "Taste of Sarasota" because it stands out to readers with the gradient fill, it is unique and different....
